BOY THIS SURE IS OLD AS FUCK. IT MUST BE SHITTY. Well, no, cuz it's not thraahahhhheeerre we have a band called Naked City that
... was an avant-garde music group led by saxophonist and composer John Zorn (in camo pants) ... Naked City was initiated by Zorn as a "composition workshop" to test the limits of composition (and improvisation) in a traditional rock band lineup. Their music incorporated recognizable elements of jazz, surf, classical, heavy metal, grindcore, country music, punk rock and other genres.
That's right you warriors of the internet: grindcore, country, jazz & surf. Why the fuck would you not want to listen to this COMPELLING MASTERPIECE simply due to that 'fusion' of genres.
42 songs, most averaging 45 seconds.
"But it's just noise id_, I don't get why anyone would wanna listen to this" - that's also what you all say about .. EVERYTHING. It's sounds meshed together in way you don't like. Well, luckily for you - that's the point with Naked City, meshing sounds from all over the musical map with no real 'direction' for the purpose of seeing what could be done.
I'm not expecting 98% of you to like or feel comfortable by it - it's not meant for comfort music (or something you sit down and 'enjoy'). The band strove go against norms in virtually every facet; be it the choice of taboo Maruo Suehiro illustrations, Weegee photos or vivid photogrpahy of explicit S&M or Leng T'Che(actual album cover). The fusion of genres in this band were to see what you can make if you takefrom jazz basics and apply the agression and speed of thrash and grind a top the conflicting style of the other genres used.
Either that or I start posting Steve Reich.
