Swedish death metal legends of the underground Grave have arisen once again to unleash Burial Ground on Regain Records. The classic death metal ensemble is present and true to old school the thrashing chaos runs rampant. If you were ever in search of a modern album that bleeds classic death metal, Burial Ground wouldn’t be a bad place to look. Driving murky riffs with blasting drums and vicious growls intertwined with production value that isn’t the cleanest, but gives the desired effect. The mix of slow and sluggish instrumental breaks and thrashy aggressive verses on “Semblance in Black,” just brings a smile to death metal fans face. The overall approach is nothing new for Grave, but it is a well balanced assault with tons of old school flair. If you are looking for an innovative fresh and new sound, you won’t be too satisfied with Burial Ground. It is a solid album, but at the same time it is your standard death metal affair with nothing too complicated nor has any frills that stray far from the very core of the genre. With that being said it is very solid straight no bullshit death metal album that will please the likes of death metal fans, and seriously what is their not to like about old school death metal. Burial Ground packs a serious punch of old school death metal that made you fall in love with the genre in the first place. However it does lack some of the innovation and progression that you look for in albums to truly catch your ear, as I said this is straight up old school death metal and it is solid as ever. With that being said you know what is in store for you a Swedish assault of death metal fury, brace yourself the storm is coming. (SOURCE)
