Shining - Blackjazz (2010)

This band is a good example of how experimentation in metal is still alive and well. What's that? This isn't metal? Your loss... scroll down then.
Shining has evolved from an acoustic jazz duo to the experimental juggernaut you hear today. After working closely with Enslaved on the "Armageddon Concerto" (live set first done at Moldejazz in 2008), Shining took all jazz filled hatred and simplified their sound to a more refined intensity. Now resembling their sound live (versus previous albums) Shining continues their march of doomsday scenarios and cult fiction.
The sound is most commonly called 'industrial' for the presence of keys and vocal style but the band still keeps their jazz foundation high in the mix.
Saxamaphones everywhere.
