The listener should no go into this album expecting easy listening. This is not something you can put on in the background and do something else to, this is an song, which, in my opinion, you have to endure.
Because it is basically 25 minutes of PURE SONIC TORTURE. But, not in a bad way, that is to say, this is like the soundtrack to hell. There is some heavy Funeral Doom bands out there, Wormphlegm must be the heaviest. And scariest! Simply starting with a bit of uncomfortable ambiance, the music basically just slams you in the face once it kicks in, then drags you done through hell with it. The theme of the demo itself, is actually dialog between a master torturer and his servant, the master telling his servant to torture various famous/political figures, the servant repeating it. The dueling vocals, low growls and high shrieks (!!!) representing this truly creates a disturbing atmosphere, especially when paired against the high and low guitar riffing and the slow, methodical drumming, which i can only assume is the heartbeat of the prisoners as they await their fate. As i said before, do not going into this demo expecting it to be a breeze, you really have to listen to be immersed in the disturbing atmosphere this album oozes. If you like funeral doom, if you like your gore lyrics, and if you like to be creeped out by three crazy Finns singing about torture, then Wormphlegm is for you.JUST DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU
